Tax-Aide

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

The Tax-Aide Program offers free tax preparation help to anyone, but especially lower-income and older taxpayers who cannot afford a paid tax preparation service. The program is nation-wide and is co-sponsored by the IRS and AARP.

Tax-Aide volunteers are simply neighbors helping neighbors. They undergo training and IRS certification every year. They provide personal attention to each client while completing and electronically filing both federal and state returns.

This service is free and there are no age or income restrictions.  You do not have to be a member of AARP to use this service.  It is available in Lynchburg at the Main Library and the Templeton Senior Center.  It is also available in Bedford and Danville at their libraries.

Although this service is not advertised, it will complete over 2500 returns this year in the Lynchburg region.
